KENSINGTON, P.E.I. —

KENSINGTON – After years of chasing a local homeowner to clean up their property, the Town of Kensington has invoked its unsightly premises bylaw in an effort to get the job done.

Council has passed a resolution authorizing the tear-down of the house and remediation of 105 Victoria Street West. Once the work is done the owner will be sent the bill. If they should fail to pay it, the town will register a lien against the property.

Town staff informed council that this house has been vacant for at least the past 12 years and there have been multiple attempts over the past 10 years to have the owner resolve the issue. All have been unsuccessful.
