SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. – A total of 78 photos were submitted to the Journal Pioneer 2017 Christmas tree contest this year.

Entries exhibited a lot of creativity and some were actually trees that had transformed into other beings, like Mickey Mouse and a Ghost of Christmas Future. Most were artificial although some were real. Some had pets sitting nearby while many had various depictions of Santa situated beside or underneath. Some were very modern looking and colour co-ordinated while others had the old-fashioned appeal of traditional ornaments, tinsel and icicles.

Pat Beauchesne of Schurman’s Point had a huge tree in her window which garnered 27 likes from viewers.

We also invited submissions of other centrepieces of Christmas décor, besides trees, and a number of you sent in decorated mantles over cozy fireplaces.

Submitted photos came from across P.E.I. and one from Melissa Frankland, an Islander now living in Winnipeg, Man.
