GEORGETOWN, P.E.I. - Holland College’s Georgetown Centre closed early for the day Wednesday after a problem was detected with the town water supply.

The announcement was made on the college’s website over the noon hour.

Along with the Georgetown Centre’s closure, the Montague, Morell and Souris adult education centres were also closed.

John Kelly, manager of environmental services, found out about the closure through the Holland College website.

“We were told there was no pressure,” Kelly said.

As soon as he was notified, the department sent someone out to investigative the issue.

“One of (the wells) was shut off, we turned it back on and the pressure came back up. There really wasn’t any issue.”

Kelly isn’t sure what caused the well to turn off, it could have been power related, but the water is back up and running, Kelly said.
