Summerside’s Heather Moyse can now add author to her rather long list of personal accomplishments.

Moyse’s first book, “Redefining ‘Realistic:’ Shift your perspective. Seize your potential. Own your story.” is launching in her home province at select retailers on Monday, Dec. 11. It will be available online anywhere at www.amazon.ca on the same day.

Moyse recently expressed her excitement at sharing her venture with Islanders, and her hope that they find her messages useful.

“There are no guarantees when pursuing any goal, but we are all capable of way more than we give ourselves credit for,” said Moyse.

“And I hope that, after reading my book, people will start to recognize the fears that are holding them back, and start questioning their assumptions of what they believe to be possible or impossible.”

Authoring a book on her personal journey and philosophy seemed like a natural extension of Moyse’s career as a motivational speaker, something she started shortly after the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

Moyse has two Olympic gold medals under her belt, one from Sochi and another from the 2010 Vancouver games, both in two-women bobsleigh.

Prior to training for the Olympics, Moyse was a member of Canada’s national women’s rugby team and is a World Rugby Hall of Famer.

She also briefly represented Canada as a cyclist.

Recently, Moyse has made a return to the bobsleigh track and is currently training with an eye towards pushing a rookie driver to the Olympic podium at the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics.
