A heat warning has been issued across Prince Edward Island.

In a statement released by Environment Canada for Aug. 14, the weather agency said a warm air mass will settle over the Island today and Wednesday.

Temperatures are expected to reach 28 degrees Celsius today and tomorrow, with lows around 18 C.

The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

The public is advised to drink plenty of water and stay in a cool place.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.

Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
