CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - The hearing into allegations of professional misconduct by a Charlottetown surgeon will be open to the media and public.

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of P.E.I. referred allegations made toward Dr. David Ashby to a board of inquiry.

Ashby is accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with a patient and also prescribing to that patient anti-anxiety and anti-depression medications without proper diagnosis and being outside the scope of his medical practice.

The hearing will be held Dec. 21 at 10 a.m. at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of P.E.I. office at 14 Paramount Dr. in Charlottetown.
