ALBERTON, P.E.I. — The West Prince man killed in a traffic collision early Saturday morning has been identified.
Noah Thaddeus McInnis, 24, died at about 5:30 a.m. when the vehicle he was driving left Highway 2 near Woodstock, P.E.I.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing. McInnis, the lone occupant of the vehicle, is the son of Kenneth and Louann Perry of Greenmount, P.E.I.
The Rooney Funeral Home and Chapel in Alberton is handling funeral arrangements. Visiting hours will be Tuesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m.
His funeral will be held Wednesday at St. Simon and St. Jude Church, Tignish, at 3 p.m., interment in the church cemetery.
McInnis died at the scene of the accident which closed the highway between the Howlan Road (Route 143) and Duvar Road (Route 146) for several hours while the RCMP investigated. First responders from the O'Leary Fire Department and Island EMS also responded to the incident.
Jason Greenan, deputy fire chief of the O’Leary Volunteer Fire Department, said the call came in at 5:32 a.m. When firefighters arrived, they found the car submerged in water, with its wheels down.
An RCMP collision analyst, as well as a drone, were deployed to aid in the investigation.
