SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — The City of Summerside has ruled out the former home of Summerset Manor on Granville Street as a potential site for a new fire hall.
The city had recently sent inquiries to the province, which owns the land, inquiring if it would consider divesting itself of the property. However, the province replied that it was not interested as the site is already intended for a future, as yet unannounced, housing project.
A new fire hall, preferably in a central location, has been on the city’s priority books for years. However, the project has continually been delayed due to a lack of funding opportunities with the federal government.
