For the fallen: Cardigan, P.E.I. MP paying respects in Italy, France as D-Day approaches

Veterans Affairs Minister Lawrence MacAulay is shown in Italy this week, on his way to D-Day ceremonies in France, to highlight the contribution of Canada during the Italian campaign. While there, the Cardigan MP visited a grave at the Moro River Cemetery near Ortona. The fallen soldier is Peter Adolphus Gallant from New Acadia, P.E.I., a member of the 48th Highlanders of Canada, RCIC, and son of Maurice M. and Josephine M. Gallant. MacAulay headed to France Monday, where he will remain until the end of the week for a variety of events around D-Day.
