CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Elizabeth May will be in Charlottetown Saturday for the second time in this federal campaign.
The federal Green party leader will be visiting the Charlottetown Farmers Market with P.E.I. Green candidates Saturday morning and will be making an announcement.
May’s visit will occur sometime between 8 and 10 a.m.
May will also be visiting Glace Bay, N.S., and Halifax on Saturday.
Since last January, May has visited Charlottetown three times. The city’s Green party candidate, Darcie Lanthier, is hoping to unseat incumbent Liberal candidate Sean Casey.
Charlottetown has been cited by some pollsters as a riding where the Greens may be in contention, partly due to the provincial party’s strong showing in April’s provincial election.
These predictions fly in the face of recent history. Casey won the seat in 2015, capturing 56 per cent of the vote, defeating three other candidates. The seat has been held by the Liberals since 1988.
Conservative candidate Robert Campbell, NDP candidate Joe Byrne and Christian Heritage Party candidate Fred MacLeod are also facing off against Casey in Charlottetown.
Advance voting will also continue throughout the province Saturday through to Monday.
