SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — A Kildare Capes man charged in relation to the death of a Prince County cyclist will be back in court on April 18 to enter his pleas.

Matthew Clifford Gaudet, 31, had his case called briefly in provincial court on Thursday, but it was set over again.

Gaudet is facing two criminal charges regarding the death of Marjolaine Ward, 60, including failing to stop at the scene of an accident, and dangerous driving causing death.

Ward was riding her bike along Route 12 on Aug. 27, 2018, when she was struck by a car. She died of her injuries.

The driver who hit her did not stop to help.

Ward was a teacher at the École Pierre-Chiasson in Deblois. She was originally from New Brunswick.

Her family and friends have been intermittently attending court to watch the proceedings as they unfold.
