A 32-year-old Charlottetown man escaped with minor injuries after his pick-up truck crossed lanes and snapped a hydro pole in half.

Sgt. Dave Pound of Charlottetown Police Services says the man was travelling northbound on Brackley Point Road at about 1:10 p.m. when the single-vehicle collision occurred.

Pound says the driver, who was the only occupant in the truck, called 911 for assistance.

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance. He was treated for minor injuries and released.

Pound says the truck was severely damaged and is likely a write-off.

Police expect to reroute southbound traffic travelling on Brackley Point Road onto Sherwood Road until 6 p.m. or 7 p.m.

The incident may result in short-term interruption to some Maritime Electric customers in the area.

Pound says neither alcohol or drugs are believed to have been a factor in the collision.

Roads were wet at the time, he added.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
