CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A P.E.I. man who was charged after an incident at a Charlottetown tattoo parlour that left him with part of his leg amputated had his case adjourned Thursday.
Donald (Artie) Gregg Gautreau, 49, was not in provincial court in Charlottetown when his case was called before Judge John Douglas.
Crown attorney Lisa Goulden told the court Gautreau was in hospital but said he was going to be released Friday and would be able to attend next week.
Gautreau has been charged with assault with a weapon and mischief in connection with the incident.
Charlottetown police allege two people showed up at Extreme Ink on Dec. 23 and got into a heated exchange with Gautreau, who is the shop’s owner.
The police allege one of the men pinned Gautreau against the building with a vehicle.
Gautreau had to be airlifted to Halifax and part of his leg was amputated.
He has since been recovering at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 14.
Sean Michael Lombardi, 26, and Riley MacFadyen, 20, also recently had their cases adjourned after brief court appearances.
Lombardi will be back in court March 7 on charges of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.
MacFadyen’s next court date is scheduled for Feb. 14 on a charge of assault with a weapon.
