KENSINGTON, P.E.I. — In the Kensington council meeting on Aug.12, police chief Lewie Sutherland presented counterfeit bills to council members.
The force has seen six instances of the counterfeit bills being used in the town, with reports of $100 and $50 bill previously, but recently they were made aware of $5 bills.
Sutherland said the $100 and $50 bills’ hologram is of the $5 markings, while the $5 are clear tape instead of the hologram material.
The serial numbers may vary.
Kensington police are asking people to look closer at the money they are handling, and to report any money that may be counterfeit.
Business owners can stop by the Kensington police office to inspect what the false bills look like.
