Frank Costa was sworn in Monday as Summerside’s newest deputy mayor.

Summerside council has annually rotated the position of deputy mayor through its more experienced members since long-time deputy mayor Bruce MacDougall stepped down from the position in December of 2015.

Costa, who represents Ward 2: St. Eleanors - Slemon Park, takes over the post from fellow councillor, Norma McColeman. Coun. Brent Gallant preceded McColeman in the position.

Costa works as the executive director of Summerside’s Community Connections.

He was first elected to council in 2010 and re-elected in 2014.
