RCMP arrested an impaired driver at the Confederation Bridge checkpoint Monday - the second such arrest in as many days.

A 22-year-old Summerside man was at the COVID checkpoint at the Confederation Bridge in Borden-Carleton around 10 a.m. on Oct. 19. 

Checkpoint employees suspected the man was impaired and requested assistance from RCMP officers assigned to support the checkpoint.

The man was arrested and taken to the police station where a breath sample showed he was indeed impaired.
Upon further investigation, he was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and a Cannabis Control Act offence. 

His vehicle was towed and impounded. The man was released on condition he appear in provincial court scheduled for December
