CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - Passenger traffic continues to fly higher at the Charlottetown Airport.
The airport registered an increase in passenger numbers for the third straight year in 2018.
There was a total of 370,730 passenger movements in 2018, up slightly from the previous year.
Over the past five years, traffic has increased by 25 per cent.
“Although 2018 traffic numbers are very similar to 2017, given the drop in overall seat capacity and an early start to winter, this is still something to celebrate, said Doug Newson, CEO of the Charlottetown Airport Authority.
“Seeing stable traffic numbers with lower seat capacity means our airline partners operated with higher load factors, and this should bode well for future capacity increases and schedule enhancements.’’
Newson adds that while he has not seen finalized schedules for this summer, he is optimistic 2019 will be another great year.
The Airport Authority also saw the completion of the largest infrastructure investment in its history in 2018 with $18 million pumped into major runway and taxiways upgrades.
