KENSINGTON – Kensington Police Services are urging drivers to use caution at the intersection of Victoria and Broadway Streets, after an early morning accident shut down traffic lights.

At around 2 a.m. police attended the scene of a single-vehicle accident.

The driver, a 47-year-old female from Summerside, hit a traffic light pole, heavily damaging the car.

She was arrested for impaired driving and provided a breath sample over the legal limit and was later released from custody.

She is scheduled to appear in provincial court in late January.

Police hope to have the traffic light system restored by early afternoon.
