GLEN VALLEY, P.E.I. – A 31-year-old man is charged with impaired driving, and could face more charges, after an incident allegedly involving a firearm early Wednesday morning.

Queens District RCMP responded to a complaint of a disturbance at around 1 a.m. on the Fredericton Station Road in Glen Valley.

Police were advised that a man at a residence was intoxicated and in possession of a firearm.

Officers attended the scene and encountered a man leaving with a firearm in a vehicle.

Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver failed to pull over. A short pursuit followed, and the driver eventually stopped the vehicle.

The 31-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with impaired driving. RCMP seized a loaded firearm from the vehicle.

The man will appear in provincial court in Charlottetown later in March.

The RCMP say the investigation is ongoing and more charges against the man are being considered.
