Katharina Mueller running for Ward 2, Summerside

Katharina Mueller has announced her intention to run in Ward 2, St. Eleanors-Slemon Park, in the upcoming Summerside municipal election.

Mueller said she decided to run for council because she wants to serve her community and there are a number of areas where she would like to see more work done in general for the city and in particular for Ward 2.  

“I am passionate about running as a candidate and winning for Ward 2, St. Eleanors-Slemon Park because I want to be a member of a strong team that will help our city grow to its full potential,” said Mueller.

“It is my goal to help make Summerside and the surrounding area an attractive and greater destination for new business growth and a place where our children, grandchildren, and families can prosper.”

Mueller works as a program officer for the P.E.I. Agriculture Sector Council. She has two sons, 16 and 10, and has lived in the Summerside area for 22 years.

She has a diverse personal, educational and work background and has a lot to offer constituents, she said.

She lists her top five priorities as: economic growth for the community, renewable energy, increasing affordable housing, working to reduce poverty and working with other policy makers for more education and action against bullying, especially online.

P.E.I.’s next round of municipal elections is scheduled to take place Nov. 5.

“It is my goal to help make Summerside and the surrounding area an attractive and greater destination for new business growth and a place where our children, grandchildren, and families can prosper,” said Mueller.

The current Ward 2 councillor is Frank Costa, who was first elected in 2010 and again in 2014.

To date, Mueller is the second candidate to publically announce her intention to see seek a council seat. Nancy Quinn previously announced she was running in Ward 7, Green Shore – Three Oaks. Current city Coun. Brent Gallant also recent announced his intention to run for mayor.
