NEW GLASGOW, P.E.I. — A leaking propane tank is believed to have caused a minor explosion inside a parked New Glasgow food truck this morning, injuring one employee inside.
Holy Cow Burgers and Wings food truck was closed on Saturday until further notice as a result of the explosion.
The New Glasgow Fire Department received the call at approximately 9:55 a.m. to report the explosion.
“There must have been a small propane leak and there was an explosion,” said the New Glasgow deputy fire chief Wayne Court.
“There was an employee inside the truck, and he suffered a few burns and was taken by ambulance to hospital (Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown).”
The employee, who has not yet been named, was “conscious and alert at the time” according to Court.
“The explosion blew the windows out of the truck and a few things around inside, but no one was seriously injured,” he added.
On the Holy Cow Burgers and Wings social media page the restaurant, which is located in Morell, posted a statement, “We have to cancel our day in New Glasgow today. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. The restaurant in Morell is open until 9 p.m.”
