SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Summerside police have laid charges in relation to two of three complaints received last week for vehicles failing to stop for school buses displaying flashing red lights.
Police received a complaint of a vehicle failing to stop for a bus displaying flashing red lights in the Water Street East area of Summerside at approximately 11:15 a.m. on Nov. 6.
A second incident occurred just outside of a daycare on Pope Road on Nov. 7. at roughly 8:20 a.m.
A 35-year-old Summerside man, has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act for failing to stop for a school bus displaying flashing red lights.
A 24-year-old man has been charged with a summary offence ticket also for failing to stop for a bus.
A summary offence ticket carries a minimum fine of $1,000 and a further penalty of eight demerit points upon conviction.
The bus drivers and witnesses were able to provide information on the vehicles which allowed police to identify the alleged vehicles and drivers involved.
A third incident remains under investigation.
