SYDNEY, N.S. — A Victoria County man has received a trial date on charges including impaired driving causing death.

Colin Hugh Tweedie, 27, of Black Rock Road is also charged with dangerous driving causing death, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and resisting arrest. The offences are alleged to have been committed July 11, 2019, in Big Bras d’Or.

Tweedie was charged after 10-year-old Talia Neveah Forrest was struck and killed as she and friends rode their bicycles along Black Rock Road. The driver then fled the scene.

He will go to trial Oct. 5 in Nova Scotia Supreme Court.
