ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — It's been some time since Chief Medical Officer of Health has held a COVID-19 update on a Thursday, but Dr. Janice Fitzgerald is holding one today, starting at 2 p.m. (NST.)

The updates — which were daily in the early days of the pandemic and before moving to a Monday, Wednesday and Friday schedule — went to a single weekly briefing, conducted on Wednesdays, when the provincial election started.

Today's update can be watched at thetelegram.com.

In her most recent update, Fitzgerald reported two new confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Eastern N.L., both in men aged 20-39. One was travel-related while the other was under investigation.

There are now five cases in the province.
