Three vehicles destroyed in suspicious fire in Mount Pearl early Monday morning

Firefighters were called to scene of blaze near a commercial building around 2:45 a.m.

MOUNT PEARL, N.L. —

St. John's Regional Fire Department firefighters were called out to a multi-vehicle fire behind a commercial building in Mount Pearl early Monday morning.

The blaze was spotted at about 2:45 a.m. by a Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officer who was patrolling the area.

When firefighters arrived on scene at Topsail Road and Trout Place, three vehicles were ablaze and a fourth was being damaged by the intense heat from the flames.

The blaze was brought under control within minutes, but not before three of the vehicles were destroyed.

The incident is considered suspicious and is under investigation.
