A seven-year-old boy suffered serious burns after an explosion at a trailer park near Perth Saturday night in which three people were injured.

OPP and the local fire department were called to the scene at around 10:30 pm Saturday at a campground on Christie Lake North Shore Road just outside of Perth after the reported explosion of a buried propane cylinder at a campfire.

Three people, including the seven year old were transported to hospital for treatment.

The Office of the Fire Marshall was also contacted. The cause of the incident is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 1-888-310-1122 or Lanark County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

OPP Const. Lori Lobinowich said the injuries are considered serious but there was no word Sunday morning if the three victims were still in hospital. Police were not at the scene Sunday, Lobinowich said.

Police were still determining if the people were aware of the buried propane cylinder.
