A collision between an Royal Newfoundland Constabulary cruiser and a car Friday night closed a major intersection in Mount Pearl and left both vehicles with significant damage.
The male RNC officer who was driving the marked police vehicle was checked on scene by paramedics but it’s not known if he was sent to hospital. His injuries were not thought to be serious.
The crash happened at the intersection of Topsail Road and the exit from the Team Gushue Highway just after 6:30 p.m. and closed the intersection for about two hours as the incident was investigated.
No information was available as to what caused the collision but it appeared the private vehicle crashed into the side of the police cruiser.
More details will be provided as they become available.
