ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — A 26-year-old man suspected of killing his father last month made a quick video appearance in provincial court in St. John’s Tuesday morning.

Brandon Noftall’s lawyer indicated he had not yet received all the disclosure in the case. The matter was postponed until Jan. 25.

Noftall has been in custody since Dec. 18, when the RCMP charged him with second-degree murder in connection with the death of 41-year-old Bobby Noftall in Renews that day.

Sources say Bobby Noftall had been stabbed.

RCMP vehicles spent the day of the alleged murder parked outside a home in the small Southern Shore community, while other police officers blocked a section of Route 10, south of La Manche and north of Cape Broyle, for several hours. Investigators were focused on a pickup truck that was parked in the middle of the road with its emergency lights flashing.

Brandon Noftall is also facing a charge of assault as well as charges of assault with a weapon and uttering threats in relation to an incident reported to have occurred in November 2019. He’s also charged with attempting to choke a person and five counts of breaching court orders, including an allegation that he violated an order prohibiting him from carrying or possessing a knife.
