Another big event has been scrapped due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2021 Mount Pearl Frosty Festival is cancelled, the board of directors announced Thursday.

The festival, the largest winter festival in Atlantic Canada, had been scheduled for Feb. 3-14.

“Out of an abundance of caution, the 2021 Mount Pearl Frosty Festival has been cancelled,”board chairman Robert Hayes said in a brief news release.

“The safety of our patrons, volunteers, and sponsors is our number one priority. As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, the board of directors made the responsible decision to cancel this year’s festival and looks forward to an exciting return in 2022.”
