Image released of car sought in double hit & run that killed senior

An image has been released of a vehicle believed to have been involved in the fatal hit-and-run of a senior on Wednesday in Scarborough.

Toronto Police say a 76-year-old woman crossing Midland Ave. from the southwest corner of the intersection around 11:30 a.m. was struck by an eastbound Mack Truck turning south on Midland from Sheppard Ave. E. The victim, who had been in the crosswalk, was knocked to the ground and killed, while the truck drove away.

A few minutes later, police say, a white sedan also heading south on Midland hit the woman’s body, dragging her further south. Police say the driver pulled over and got out, but then returned to his car and fled. He is described as young, tall and brown.

The Mack Truck and its 47-year-old male driver were located shortly after the collision.

Anyone with information on the white sedan and its driver, or video from the area at that time, are asked to contact police at 416-808-1900 or Crime Stoppers.
