A Halifax taxi driver has been charged with one count of sexual assault after an incident early last weekend in the city.
Police responded a report of a sexual assault at about 3:20 a.m. last Saturday morning, Halifax police said in a news release Friday. A short time before they received the call, police said, “a male taxi driver drove a female to a residence in Halifax and sexually assaulted her while she was in the vehicle.”
Lesianu Zewdiewas Hweld, 44, was arrested at police headquarters Wednesday and released to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date.
“In consideration of the victim’s privacy and well-being, we are not releasing any further details,” the news release said.
