GANDER, N.L. — A 25-year-old Gander man has been charged under the Provincial Wildlife Act for harassing a moose that made its way onto a plowed road in the days that followed the Jan. 17 blizzard.

The Gander Royal Canadian Mounted Police became aware of the incident when a number of concerned citizens alerted them of the video that began circulating on social media on Jan. 23.

Police say that not long after, two men presented themselves at the detachment and provided details identifying themselves as the two individuals captured on the video.

The RCMP and the Department of Fisheries and Land Resources conducted a joint investigation to determine the most appropriate charge.

The accused is scheduled to attend court on April 14.

The RCMP says the investigation continues and they are considering possible charges that could apply to the passenger.
