PLACENTIA, N.L. —

A 21-year-old Dunville man is facing a number of charges related to an alleged assault at a home in the Placentia community on January 15.

In the early morning hours, Placentia RCMP were called to a residence where an individual was reportedly assaulted and threatened by Shane Nash Junior.

On the scene, police were informed that, prior to his arrival, Nash was impaired by alcohol and driving dangerously. He also allegedly uttered threats to shoot at police officers should they respond, but left before the RCMP arrived.

Nash was arrested at a residence in Branch on the Cape Shore without incident on Jan. 17, at which time police used a search warrant to seize a firearm.

Nash was held overnight and released on a number of conditions.

He faces charges of assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, choking, uttering threats, dangerous driving and impaired driving.

His next court appearance is set for Feb. 24.
