Disturbance sends one to hospital in downtown St. John's

One person was sent to hospital with a non life-threatening injury after a disturbance in St. John's Wednesday night, according to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary's overnight report.

Around 9 p.m., members of operational patrol services responded to the downtown incident.

After a brief investigation, officers arrested and held for court a 48-year-old man on charges of assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and breaches of a court release order.

In a news release later Thursday morning, the RNC said a 50-year-old woman was the victim taken to a hospital.

He was held in custody to appear in provincial court.
