Computer classes to be offered at Sydney library

SYDNEY, N.S. —

McConnell Library in Sydney will offer “Tech Shy to Tech Savvy” series of free, basic computer classes monthly through the Cape Breton Regional Library and provided by Digital Nova Scotia.

The first two sessions on Oct. 3 and Oct. 4 will cover how computers affect our lives and help users connect and use the internet (browsers, search engines and tools to navigate the web). The sessions run from 4-6 p.m.

Future sessions will cover the use of programs such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint, file sharing, social media, email, blogging and cloud storage, cyber security, privacy and pirating, as well as emerging technologies.
Registration is required. Sign up at the McConnell Library or call 902-562-3161 to register. Laptops and mobile devices will be provided to work on.
