Bloc Québécois Leader Yves-François Blanchet’s wife, Nancy Déziel, has tested positive for COVID-19.

The party confirmed the news in a statement released Tuesday night.

Blanchet and his deputies had gone into preventive isolation Monday after an employee in his office tested positive.

Blanchet and Déziel are isolating in their home in Shawinigan, the party said. Blanchet is said to be doing well and will be tested on Wednesday.

In a tweet, Déziel, a municipal councillor in Shawinigan, said she went to get tested on Monday after noticing she lost her sense of smell.

She will now be in isolation until Sept. 22 and is following public health guidelines, she wrote. She is not experiencing any other symptoms.

Quebec reported 292 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday , the biggest one-day jump since June 1.
