SYDNEY, N.S. — It appears someone in Cape Breton may be sitting on a nest egg.

The Atlantic Lottery Corp. has received a call from the possible winner of the $1 million from a March 649 draw, but it has not been confirmed.

A ticket with the winning number for the guaranteed prize of $1 million in the March 25 Lotto 649 draw was purchased in Cape Breton County. The winning number is 84632029-01.

Lottery spokesperson Lindsay Meekins said they have not officially confirmed the winner.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 protocols, Atlantic Lottery is assessing prize claims on a case-by-case basis.

“All applicable major prize claims will be processed as soon as our offices reopen to the public.”

The corporation recently announced its prize claim offices have been temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 crisis. As a result, the corporation has extended the expiry date for tickets. Players typically have up to one year from the date of the draw to claim their prize. Players now have an additional six months to claim prizes for tickets that have an expiry date from March 17, 2020 up to and including Sept. 17, 2020.
