BLOOMFIELD

The Provincial Fire Marshal’s office has turned the investigation into a fire that destroyed a vacant house in Bloomfield Monday night over to the RCMP.

The O’Leary and West Point fire departments responded to the 11 p.m. call and found the house already destroyed when they arrived. Flames were erupting through the roof, reports O’Leary fire chief Ron Phillips.

Tyne Valley Fire Department was called for mutual aid but was called off en route once it was determined the house could not be saved.

Sergeant Darrell Gill with Prince District RCMP, said the cause remains under investigation. He said the police have determined that plans were already in place for the house to be demolished. An excavator had been offloaded at the property Monday afternoon and was parked in the backyard while firefighters worked to extinguish the fire.
