Island performers set to take the stage on Earth Day

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. —

There will be celebration of music and song to mark Earth Day 2019 at St. Pius X Church in Charlottetown on Monday, April 22, beginning at 7 p.m.

Amid the beauty of the Easter celebrations, it’s a time to pause to give praise in a spirit of wonder and reverence for the beauties of Planet Earth, our Mother.

From its beginning in 1970, Earth Day is now celebrated around the world with encouragement for people to get outside, take a walk or bike in nature and enjoy the beauty of our earth or find other diverse ways to recognize our common home.

A variety of musicians and singers will come together to make a lovely evening with volunteer entertainers, including the Gaia chorus, which sings the songs of environmentalist and earth advocate Carolyn McDade, singers Flora Anne Whitty, Margie Carmichael, Richard Fullbaum, Eileen Clow, Cornwall Community Choir, harpist Lise Morin, Tony Reddin and Grace Roberts, with some sing-along numbers with the Marthas and Associates.

This evening is organized by volunteers of the Martha Spirituality Centre.

A free-will offering will be received to support on-going programming at the centre.
