A popular concert series, The Ceilidh In the City, is set to return for the 2019 season on Wednesday, June 26.
This year marks the ninth season for this City Ceilidh which has been showcasing the wide musical styles and talent found on Prince Edward Island. This season promises to be filled with toe tapping traditional music, sing along songs and more. The first show of the year will kick off with two musical guests which, notably have been fan favorites returning each year to perform for eight previous seasons.
Dino Dunsford has been a household name on P.E.I. This venerable musician has performed on stages all over the Maritimes performing many different types of music. In the early years Dunsford could be found in the dance halls of the Island rocking the night away with the top rock’n’roll tunes of the day, then country, gospel and traditional Maritime favorites.
Eddy Quinn is a talented singer/songwriter who has spent close to 25 years performing with the beloved Island roots and traditional group, Fiddlers Sons. He has a quick wit, a knack for writing songs that pay tribute to the grass roots of his beloved Island and the many characters he has encountered along his long successful musical tour across the province. Dunsford and Quinn will be joining the hosts of the Ceilidh, Kendall Docherty, Peter Burke, Heartz Godkin and Brian Knox as well as newest member to the crew, Brian Blacquiere, who plays fiddle and banjo.
The shows get underway each and every Wednesday night at the Jack Blanchard Centre located at 7 Pond St., Charlottetown, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. for general admission. There is a canteen service offered by the Blanchard Centre Catering Team with all sorts of fresh baked goodies available. A weekly 50/50 draw also takes place in support of the Ceilidh Gives Back Fund which has supported numerous Island Charities and families in need.
