CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Larry Campbell and Colleen MacPhee are teaming up with a few of their musical friends to celebrate the Senior’s Active Living Centre’s 25th anniversary.
The Sunday afternoon concert will also feature Judy Lowe, Heartz Godkin and Brian Knox and will be held at the Senior’s Active Living Centre inside the Bell Aliant Centre on the UPEI campus in Charlottetown.
Campbell, the P.E.I. Male Vocalist and Songwriter of the Year in 2004, was a member of the popular bluegrass band, Bluestreak, who performed throughout the Maritimes. In 2004 and 2005 this group was nominated for an ECMA and was the P.E.I. Bluegrass Recording of the Year for both years.
He was also a former sidekick to Roy MacCaull who hosted the local TV’s Community Showcase shows. Campbell is currently a member of Neon Moon, who play regularly at the Wing in Summerside and the Royal Canadian Legion in Charlottetown. He also plays occasionally with Keelin Wedge and as part of a trio with MacCaull and Marcella Richard.
MacPhee, who pays tribute to the late Rita MacNeil in the popular ladies group, Lady Singers of Our Century, also hosts the monthly ceilidhs at Winsloe United. MacPhee, who has two CDs to her credit, will be performing songs from a variety of different artists at the June 10 show.
The concert gets underway at 1:30 p.m. Lunch is by donation.
