Stella Rose is not your journey’s end. When you come back, it will be as friends.

So goes the final words to the refrain of Neil Harvey’s song he wrote about the Stella Rose Bed & Breakfast, a business he and partner Robyn Wilson own that sits surrounded by gardens on Wolfville’s Main Street.

The song’s lyrics are echoed in the countless five-star reviews from Stella Rose guests on Trip Advisor, where it’s the top-ranked B&B in Nova Scotia. The couple felt love at first sight upon purchasing it in 2017, and it’s clear their guests feel the same as they walk through its door.

“It’s the best thing we ever did. We love the valley, we love Wolfville and we love our home, and now we love sharing it with our guests,” says Robyn.

They discovered the house when their friends — who’d stayed there when it was run by its former owners — mentioned the couple would be perfect buyers if the B&B was ever for sale.

Three months later, Neil and Robyn bought the B&B.

“The former owners wanted a couple who’d run it the same way they did, with high-quality food and accommodations. The B&B first scored that top Trip Advisor spot while they owned it, and we’ve managed to keep that up,” says Neil.

The B&B business has proven a natural fit for the couple. As Robyn has spent many years in the hospitality industry and Neil was a world-class squash player and coach, they are no strangers to hard work and determination. The B&B offers top-of-the-line furniture and finishes, including plush mattresses and a one-of-a-kind English breakfast made by Neil, who hails from England.

“It really hits people when they eat the breakfast that this is no basic B&B,” says Robyn. “We use local ingredients and even fruit from our garden, and our guests get to enjoy their food on our spacious back deck, which is large enough to accommodate multiple parties even when socially distanced.”

While the romantic garden and grapevines that encircle the deck are enough on their own to prompt people to stay, they say it’s also the Stella Rose’s Wolfville location and proximity to wineries and other beautiful Nova Scotia towns that is but another reason to stay.

“Our town and B&B are the perfect base,” says Neil. “You can easily spend four to five days in the area and still have a jampacked schedule with our private wine tours we lead or day trips to Lunenburg, Mahone Bay or Digby for whale watching.”
