Islanders Dylan Menzie and Aidan Searle are two of nine grant recipients for Round 2 of the Music Video Production (MVP) Project.
RBC and the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television announced the nominees earlier this month. The MVP Project enables Canadian creatives to explore their craft, hone their filmmaking skills and encourage growth within their respective industries.
Local director/producer Searle and singer-songwriter Menzie were selected as grant recipients for their video concept for the song “Wild”.
The video for “Wild” will tie in with the song lyrics in a conceptual sense but will not be portraying them in a literal sense.
The video will focus on the hatching of a sea turtle, its first observations of the world and the trials and tribulations of the young turtle as it tries to make the dangerous journey from beach to ocean, where it will live a long, beautiful life in the sun-soaked waves.
In addition to funding, they will receive valuable mentorship and networking opportunities with established industry professionals.
This collection of Canadian recording artists, producers and directors were selected from 380 submissions and will have the opportunity to bring their music video treatments to life.
The MVP project is part of the RBC Emerging Artists Project, which helps Canadian artists bridge the gap from emerging to established and supports organizations that provide the best opportunities to advance artists’ careers.
Since 2015, over 11,000 artists have been supported through these programs.
