SYDNEY, N.S. — Hike Nova Scotia and their partner organizations are continuing guided hikes across the province for the remainder of the season.

A total of nine guided hikes are scheduled for Cape Breton during the months of February and March.

Most hikes are free and include chances to win trail prizes.

Today, there will be a moonlight snowshoe jaunt at Ski Ben Eoin at 6 p.m. The cost is $5 for the event, while rentals and lift passes are also $5.

Bring your own snowshoes or rent by calling 902-828-2804. Participants are asked to meet outside the ticket building.

Another weekend outdoor activity will take place in Ingonish Beach on Sunday at 6 p.m., where there will be a full moon event at Freshwater Lake. Pre-registration is not required, although participants are asked to bring their own snowshoes.

A meet-up will take place at the beach day-use area if the road is accessible, if not, participants will meet at the intersection of Keltic and Beach roads — parking will be possible at the beginning of Beach Road.

Prior to the hike, between 5-6 p.m., there will be a hot chocolate/tea social and snowman building, if conditions allow.
