SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — A Summerside store’s recent toonie sale has turned into a gift of $2,600 for the Prince County Hospital Foundation.

The footwear sale at Source for Sports offered a second pair of sneakers for $2 when purchasing a new pair. A toonie from each pair of shoes sold was reserved to make this gift in support of the purchase of much-needed medical equipment for patients at the hospital.

The business is excited to be able to support the PCH Foundation, said Dwayne McNeill, owner of Source for Sports in Summerside.

“We get approached numerous times a week to support fundraising initiatives and we wanted to find something that reached all Prince County residents as our business is supported from all areas of Prince County. PCH impacts all families at some point in time, so we thought it was only appropriate that we chose it. The residents certainly agreed with our decision, and we couldn’t be happier to do our part and will continue to do so.”

Lisa Schurman-Smith of the PCH Foundation is also excited about the fundraiser.

“It’s wonderful when a business like Dwayne’s goes out of their way to show support for their hospital, especially in these trying times when health care is at the forefront.”
