Holy Schitt!
Colin Chisholm's regular Streaming Wars column usually gives you a few "hidden gems" to watch, but if you haven't heard of Schitt's Creek after last weekend, we don't know where you've been living.
The Canadian show completed an historic sweep of the comedy categories at the Emmys, finally earning some much-deserved hardware for its final season.
And most Canadians were about as excited as Schitt's Creek cast member Karen Robinson about the bevvy of trophies:

Bonecrusher
Halifax-born filmmaker Jim Morrison IV brought the story of Nova Scotia boxing legend Sam Langford to the big screen this week when his short film Bonecrusher debuted at the Boston Film Festival.
The dramatic short chronicles a night in the life of the Weymouth Falls-born fighter, during a 1923 match against the towering Jim (The Fireman) Flynn who stood six inches taller than the five-foot-six-and-a-half Langford, considered the greatest boxer who never won a world title.
The Chronicle Herald's Stephen Cooke spoke with Morrison about the process of bringing Langford's story to the screen.
Full of grace
Prince Edward Island singer/songwriter KINLEY, well-known for her heartfelt and personal storytelling, most notably in her award-winning song, Microphone, has released the music video for her song, Tuesday’s Child, from her second album, the self-titled KINLEY.
Back to school might look a little different this year, but the same anxieties around fitting in and bullying are always there. Tuesday’s Child talks about the challenges of growing up, feeling confident and navigating the social landscape of high school.
The music video features an exclusive verse from Vince The Messenger (Daniel Butterfield) and a candid conversation between KINLEY and local P.E.I. artists, Butterfield, 22, and Zaneta Ambassa, 16.

Blood in the Water
Silver Donald Cameron’s true-crime saga "Blood in the Water" about the 2015 murder of Phillip Boudreau off the waters of Petit-de-Grat, on Isle Madame, will soon become a television series.
The book penned by the late Cape Breton author has topped the bestseller lists across the country since its release on Aug. 11.

There are some pros who don't get as much camera time as the players, and one of them is from our own backyard.
"Like many young boys and girls, Taylor Hoeg probably grew up dreaming of skating in an NHL arena," writes SaltWire's Darrell Cole. "The dream is reality for the 24-year-old Southampton, N.S., native, who is in her second season with the Edmonton Oilers’ Orange & Blue Ice Crew, a co-ed interactive group that represents the team at games, events, and appearances throughout the community."
And due health restrictions and the world's situation in general, Hoeg and the rest of the ice crew's role has evolved into something even more critical in supporting the team.

R&B with relevance
North Preston, N.S., songwriter Keonte Beals delivers passionate R&B with a personal message on his new album King.
Beals takes his music to the virtual stage on Wednesday, Sept. 30, as part of the online Neptune Theatre Fly Again Telethon fundraiser at 7:30 p.m.
The album touches on themes of love, community, and standing up for what’s right. This is especially true of the title track, written last summer when the Halifax Regional Police policy of street checks and the systemic racism behind the policy was front and centre in the news.
