Well-known Nova Scotian artist Shelagh Duffett passed away Wednesday.
She died from an aggressive pancreatic cancer at Hospice Halifax, according to a Facebook post from her husband Thomas Duffett.
“Three months ago she had some stomach discomfort and put it down to stomach indigestion or possibly an ulcer. She didn’t want to go to the doctor or emergency because of the COVID-19, so she rode it out until I finally took her to emergency one month ago. An ultrasound found spots on her liver. A cat scan confirmed cancer in her pancreas and maybe her lung.”
He wrote that she passed peacefully without pain and their daughter was with her.
Shelagh was a regular at the Seaport Market in Halifax and sold her art all over her world through her store on Etsy. She was also very involved with the Nature Trust.
