Glad Tidings for St. George’s will take place Sunday at 3 p.m. at Sydney’s oldest church.
The concert will feature Coro Cantabile, a women’s mixed voice ensemble based in Glace Bay as well as wind player Barb Stetter and guitarist Doug Johnson.
In addition to the performances, those who attend will have the opportunity to see a special plaque that designates the church as a municipal heritage site.
“The plaque will be on display and those who attend will have the opportunity to see it,” says concert organizer Jim MacNeil.
Tickets to the event are $20 and all the money raised will go towards St. George’s preservation and restoration fund.
Built in 1785, St. George’s is the oldest standing building in Sydney and the oldest church on Cape Breton Island. It no longer offers regular services but it is open to the public at various times throughout the year.
