A Richmond County author has won his sixth international literary award.

Michael Gerhartz and his novel “Dark Times” won gold at the 2020 International Elite Choice Award competition for award-winning books.

"Dark Times," a book of fiction, was released last year and is considered a modern-day thriller featuring the main character, Natascha, a marine biologist. The book also has plots dealing with global warming, terrorism, human trafficking and white supremacy.

“Michael Gerhartz has delivered a truly masterful work of fiction,” said the selection committee.

“'Dark Times' follows the story of Natascha, a once most-wanted terrorist who is looking to live a normal life but is forced into another mission after discovering a sinister criminal operation at a nearby abbey.”

Each year, Elite Choice Awards honours excellence in publishing.
