Celebrities are busy dropping albums, signing new deals, and being among the most searched things of 2020.

Here are some huge headlines from the past week:

Taylor Swift released a new album

Less than five months after releasing her album, Folklore, Taylor Swift surprised us all by dropping yet another new album, Evermore.

Evermore feels like an extension of Folklore, an intimate, gentle album with lyrics that are being dissected by Swifties everywhere. I miss 2006-2008 Taylor music but I understand that was a different time of low-rise bootcut jeans and loud earrings that everyone else is trying to move past.

It should be noted that while the rest of us were baking bread and hoarding toilet paper, Taylor was writing and recording two successful albums.

Ellen DeGeneres has coronavirus

It has been a rough year for Ellen DeGeneres. Back in July, The Ellen DeGeneres Show came under investigation for allegations of a toxic workplace environment. The show continued to air following some producer firings and carefully-worded public statements but rumours were circulating recently that celebrities were fearful of being associated with the show and the staff were having trouble booking their usual top tier guests.

On Dec. 11, Ellen took to Instagram to announce she has tested positive for Coronavirus. Maybe I’ve watched too much Scandal and House of Cards but is this real or a publicity stunt to garner sympathy?

The Kardashians sign with Hulu

Back in September, the Kardashians said goodbye to the E! network after 14 years and 20 seasons. Recently, the famous family has signed a multi-year deal with Hulu to create content starting in 2021. This comes as a surprise to almost no one since streaming sites have much bigger budgets than the E! network, and what did we think the Kardashians were going to do? Live quiet lives of seclusion? Laughable! That’s like saying I’ll stop having breakfast dessert.

Everyone watched The Undoing

Every single person except for me watched The Undoing, so I felt cornered into paying $20/month for Crave plus HBO. The Undoing is a mini-series starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant.

The psychological thriller is based on the 2014 novel You Should Have Known by Jean Hanff Korelitz. A therapist’s world falls apart when her husband is linked to the death of a fellow parent at their son’s elite private school. What better way to get you in the holiday spirit than a titillating murder mystery?

Google searches

According to Google, the most searched-for celebrities were Chadwick Boseman, Kobe Bryant, and Naya Rivera.

Other popular searches were Zoom, coronavirus symptoms, and election results.

These results are much different than my popular Google searches for “easy brownie recipe” or “easier brownie recipe” and “beagle clothes” (to clarify: I mean both clothes for me that have beagles on them and clothes for my beagle to wear).
